Compositional Modeling of Dimethyl Ether–CO2 Mixed Solvent for Enhanced Oil Recovery

Dimethyl ether (DME) is a compound first introduced by Shell as chemical solvent for enhanced oil recovery (EOR). This study aims to investigate the efficiency of EOR using minimum miscible pressure (MMP) and viscous gravity number when mixed CO2 DME injected. Adding water-alternating-gas process reduces MMP number. Reduction in results conditions at lower pressures, which has favorable effect on swelling viscosity reduction, leading improved mobility oil. In addition, decreases, increasing sweep 26.6%. Numerical studies were conducted through series multi-phase, multi-component simulations. At content 25%, decreased 30.1% 66.4% compared with injection only. As result, maximum rate increased 31% simultaneous only CO2.
